i have one of those little weather girls that changes clothes with the temperature on my info page. in the winter she's got a big coat and scarf, hat and gloves. rain, she's got an umbrella, etc.
it's 102 at the people's bank in brighton center.

ever since ivy took the red convertible for a spin through the hills, i wanted to drive one. top down even in the rain.
in particular i wanted a cabriolet convertible, being a great lover of vintage VW. in 2002, i got my wish. a red 1992 vw cabriolet convertible, white leather interior. i never felt more connected to a heap of leather, glass and metal.
in new england it's pretty ridiculous to own a convertible. it always rains, always snows. the summer is always way
too short. yet for those few short summers, damn, they were good.
yeh, don't i feel silly crying over a car? (ahem, at WORK.) i just didn't expect it. and didn't know how much i'd really
really miss her, the only place where i scream my lungs out singing without any other sound than the purring engine.
sand from summers past stuck under the seats where a vacuum could never reach, just as it should be.

i am so sad.
goddamn electric toothbrush and it's cord grabbed hold of my tumbler and it smashed to a million pieces on the tile floor of my bathroom.
the cutest set, that toothbrush holder and tumbler.
yes, things like this piss me off to no end.

went to nyc with audrey.
saw the chili peppers (weird, but nice.. we're gonna work this all out)
saw snoop and p.diddy, britney's assistant felicia (yes, big deal for me.. hehe)
saw audrey's parents for the first time since the split.
lots of fun, so much that my entire body is aching. i love it so much. |

I've got to write about this because I want to remember it forever.
Tonight we saw 'Fever Pitch'.. I've seen it oh, about 5 times now.. and everytime it's the same. My eyes tear up at the end because it's not just a movie and it's not just Boston or the Red Sox or even my favorite girl, Drew Barrymore.
'Fever Pitch' is the best summer I ever spent.
So the Red Sox won the World Series for the first time in 86 years, there was an eclipse and a blue moon that night, Drew Barrymore came to film in the city I live in, Audrey and I reversed our curse and after 5 years of not speaking to one another there we were in Fenway Park for 18 hours straight for days in a row.
There was the 4am chill that came through the park as they were setting up a shot, I've never been so cold in my life with my winter parka, blanket, tights under jeans with knee socks. Our faces getting windburn from the wind whipping through.. pink nose and cheeks.
The sun rising over Landsdowne Street where remenants of last night's party were strewn in the street and seagulls circle for breakfast.
There was the pizza. That slice was bigger than my whole head and so hungry we were hallucenating. The picture we took of the guy at the bus stop with his pants halfway down his ass.
The radio interview right before the first day of filming where Audrey and I told WBZ1030 that this was the year.. and why they asked? Because we were there.
I never want to forget these things.
It's been 7 years since we crossed the country and found our way into "Never Been Kissed" those memories have faded. So many years wasted over something stupid and immature inbetween. My heart is full again knowing that I know my soulmate, my true best friend and have her in my life again. From now until forever we'll continue to make memories that will live on forever through pictures and stories we pass on. "Fever Pitch" is the best summer I ever had. At least so far. |

i drive a convertible.
while driving it is not uncommon to receive all sorts of hoots and hollers. you're out there in the open. people see you.
today while driving up comm. ave. towards fenway at 10pm, folks in a parked jeep cherokee started to shout. "top down!! top down!! why's that top closed on a night like this? TOP DOWN!!" magda and i laughed. then came "first pull YOUR top down and drive with the TOP DOWN!!"
did i mention it was a carload of ladies??

when i was little i used to go down the cape with my parents for what seemed like forever in the summer. when i was in high school i would still have to vacation with my parents. it was like punishment. weeks at a time at the beach. hell, right? audrey and lulu would send me letters and postcards from our hangs in boston telling me to come home. i was so bummed i couldn't spend all of the summer in the city with my friends.
know what's AWESOME about being a grown-up? I CAN DO BOTH :)

so this weekend? i will.
life is so good.
friday? drinks with my girls, amy, angela, audrey, aarin, jen, kristine, kristen, magda, lara, raemi, natasha, stacey.. not to mention my fellas, ru's crew, drew and chris, and anyone else who decides to come out.. so exciting! i love this shit..
saturday? after a hangover breakfast (who's in?) a trip to the cape for some (much needed) fun & sun..

lots of things since birthday # 25
- fever pitch premiere that we DID get into fenway park to see drew, jimmy, the bros. farrelly and our summer friends (ess had her baby boy the same day! that is so cosmically crazy and just right when you think about it!)
- lake george with audrey in the new house.. drinking in upstate new york.. wee!
- night out with the vs ladies to see stacey's husband play some sweet jazz
- night out with audrey and lulu to see how wasted i can get in one night, hehe
- garbage tomorrow night with candi, janet and audrey
-mudhoney next saturday (audrey, lu and i are picking them up from the airport...yeh, we're like pissing ourselves)
so much fun.. the weather is supposed to be delicious. no work on monday. thoughts of summer vacations, beaches.. it's gonna be so good!
p.s. as my drewbies dear have heard.. years ago i lost my issue of Interview 1992, my favorite piece of my drew collection. i had never replaced it, never collected much afterward, it was so loved. one day at work i told this story and my girl amy listened and remembered that and found it for me, surprising me just this week with a beautiful, still plastic-wrapped copy that brought tears to my eyes. as many drewbie friends i have that read this will totally understand.. i can't even believe i'm looking at that issue again and that amy caught that date, that magazine and found it for me. thank you so much amy! |

possibly the best night of my life friday.
how blessed can one person feel having all their friends, from all places, past and present for one night all in the same place?
i only wish i had more time with each one of you over our dinner plates, pretty alcoholic drinks in pretty glasses, on the dance floor, between cameras flashing. i'll remember every face just like that forever.
thank you to audrey, lulu, angela, tiffany, aarin, kristine, candice, tim, andrea, nolan, nicole, alicia, sean, naomi, lauren, tony, sophie, rudy, scott, paul, brian and everyone else for coming. i will never forget that.
